Smoked Sloppy Joes with Bold BBQ Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup bold BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hamburger buns, for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Smoker: Preheat your smoker to 250°F (120°C) using your favorite wood chips for a smoky flavor. If you don't have a smoker, you can use a grill set up for indirect heat with a smoke box or even a charcoal grill with wood chips for smoke.
Sear the Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess fat and set aside.
Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a bit of oil if needed and sauté the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.
Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Stir in the bold BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.Smoke the Mixture: Transfer the mixture to a disposable aluminum pan or a cast-iron skillet suitable for the smoker. Place the pan in the smoker and let it smoke for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally to ensure even smoking and flavor infusion.
Finish and Serve: Once the mixture is nicely smoked and heated through, remove it from the smoker. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve the smoked sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns, and enjoy!
Optional Toppings: You can top your smoked sloppy joes with additional BBQ sauce, sliced pickles, coleslaw, or any other toppings you desire.
These smoked sloppy joes are sure to be a hit with their bold BBQ flavor and smoky goodness!
