Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

I cheated on this one. Normally, I’ll throw my pork shoulder on the smoker, but I was going to be out of the house all day and wanted some pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. So I did the unthinkable….I put it in the crock pot!  I know, I expect followers to leave by the hundreds!

This one was so simple, it only took 15 minutes to set up and I didn’t have to do anything else but shred it apart at the end.

If you are in a crunch and can’t be around the smoker all day, give this simple pulled pork recipe a try. It’s really easy and super flavorful still!

Ingredients

7-8 pound pork shoulder (bone in or out)
6 garlic cloves
1 onion sliced and cooked
½ cup Worcestershire sauce
Your favorite pork rub

To serve:

BBQ sauce
Buns
Coleslaw

Directions:

Cook onions in a pan to soften them up. Approx 3-4 minutes and then place them on the bottom of the slow cooker

Trim any excess fat off of the pork shoulder and make 6 small cuts on the top to fit in the garlic cloves

Rub down the pork with your favorite rub on all sides. Coat evenly

Place the pork shoulder in the cooker and pour the Worcestershire sauce over the top

Cover and turn the cooker to low (if you are short on time, turn it up to high and cut the time in half...watch the internal temp!)

Cook for 7-8 hours or when the pork reaches and internal temperature between 197-203 degrees F

Shred, place on bun, top with your favorite bbq sauce and coleslaw!
