5 Tips When Grilling Around Crowds

Whether you are going to the beach or a large event in the park, making sure you keep guests safe around the grill is essential. Follow these 5 tips to make sure everyone has a great time and safe experience when you light up the grill!

  1. Plan ahead - know the area where you will be setting up and get there early to survey the spot where you will be firing up the grill.

  2. Give yourself space - you don’t want someone knocking over or touching a hot grill!  Rope off the area or make sure the grill is away from where the guests will be gathering and playing.

  3. Keep flames to a minimum - if using lighter fluid, make sure your grill is not under any low hanging branches or around debris that can easily catch fire. It might be wise to use pre-lit charcoal or even better, a charcoal chimney to get your coals started. It’s always a good idea to have extra water or an extinguisher on hand to put out any fires that may start.

  4. Don’t leave it unattended - once lit, make sure to keep an eye on the grill or have a helper split duties with you.

  5. Have a place for hot coals - when you are done grilling, make sure you know what you are going to do with the hot coals. Some places offer dumping barrels. Check ahead and be prepared if you need to let your coals burn out.

We hope these safety tips keep your summer grilling sessions safe and enjoyable for everyone around!
