Calling all backyard Pitmasters!
We're back with our 4th Annual Burn Pit BBQ Backyard BBQ Competition! This year all funds raised will go to Sierra Delta!
September 1st, 2024 at Explorium Brew Pub
No experience necessary and we encourage all first timers to sign up. Hurry, there will only be 20 spots available!
Details:
Event Categories: There will be two (2) separate categories in this contest (Sausage and Pork Ribs).
Special Event Category - Best Use of Jack Daniels
Entry Fee: $150 - sorry NO REFUNDS
ONCE ENTERED - Entry fee includes 10’ x 10’ cooking site, meat (provided by Explorium due to health code regulations).
Meat included - 4 racks of baby back ribs & sausage wheel (possibly more!)
Competitors will also receive Jack Daniels to incorporate in their cooks

Best Ribs 1st Place - $200 & Trophy, 2nd Place - $150 & Trophy, 3rd Place - $75 & Ribbon
Best Sausage 1st Place - $200 & Trophy, 2nd Place - $150 & Trophy, 3rd Place - $75 & Ribbon
Best Overall - Burn Pit BBQ Championship Belt
Community Favorite $100 and Cutting Board Trophy
Best Use of Jack Prize - Entrants will get a sampling of Jack Daniels Whiskey to incorporate in their cooks!
Set-Up Time: - Team check-in will begin at 8:00 AM on Sunday September 1st, 2024. - Mandatory Cooks meeting will be held at 9:00 AM. First Fire Time 9:00 AM
All meat must be cooked on grounds. Upon check in you will be provided with your containers for judging and community favorite tasting. Your containers for judging will indicate your number to keep your entry anonymous - allowing the judges to be completely unbiased in their scoring. Each team will be allotted a space of 10x10 feet.
There will be 2 sets of three judges. Each judge will receive a small square container (12inx12in) with your meat sample, meaning you will have to fill 2 containers per category. You only need to provide 1 box per meat (2 total boxes which will be provided)
The sizes for judging and plating are as follows:
For Ribs: Three (3) Ribs on the bone in each container
For Sausage: Three slices of Sausage cut to your liking (at least 2 inches) - NEW THIS YEAR - present your sausage however you want. Additional sides may be included (you bring it!)
Best Use Of Jack will be judged separately by special judges walking around to see how it is incorporated in the cook
All entries will need to be turned in at the turn in table by their designated time:
For Sausage: 2pm
For Ribs: 230pm
Ready to serve the public by 230pm.
Winners will be announced at approximately 4:30 pm.
Electric source can be supplied free of charge - but all extension cords are the responsibility of the applicant.
